How did you first meet and get together?
We met through friends and we kept meeting every weekend. It never went anywhere until about a year later and I was finishing my first year of college and I met up with Ronan. I hadn’t seen him for a while and we were just talking and having fun. Later he asked me out on a date and that was it, we were together since then. 7 years now.
Tell me about the proposal?
Ronan brought me to London for our 5 year anniversary, it was just two days away. I wanted to see the Harry Potter studios so as a surprise he brought me there. Later in the evening we went for dinner and he proposed… I got such a shock I grabbed the ring and ran out the restaurant! I didn’t even say yes! hahaha
What was important to you about your wedding and what were your priorities from the very beginning?
The most important thing for the wedding to me was simplicity from the beginning whether there was 2 people there or 200 I just wanted it plain and simple and no fuss.
What are your most powerful memories of the ceremony?
The ceremony is all a blur I loved the music which was done by my uncle Alfie and his son Gary and my sister Gemma and my two cousins Darina and Eimear Burke. I loved the songs they chose. The vows are probably the one part I wasn’t shaking like a leaf for so that is my favourite we picked them ourselves so they meant something to us.
What made you choose your reception venue?
Nora Gill of the Claregalway Hotel was the main reason she was so friendly and welcoming. She knew what she was doing listened to exactly what we wanted and delivered it all perfectly.
What made the day really special and personal to you?
My donut wall I loved! Everyone who knows me knows I love donuts! We went with a rollercoaster theme as myself and Ronan love roller coasters and go to a theme park at least once a year. My Mam made my bouquet and I loved it and my uncle Patrick made the card holder that was a wishing well and that was so beautiful!
What was your favourite part of the wedding day?
My favourite part was after the first dance because it meant party time and I love to dance so that’s where I was for the night. Ronan’s favourite part was all of it.
Who did your hair and make-up?
Vicky from Hair Flair and Emma from Natural Beauty in Mervue did our hair and make up. They always do so they were the obvious choice, they are always a delight to go in too and are brilliant at their jobs! They had the place done up for me that morning and we had mimosas and everything. They’re great girls.
Who supplied your flowers and cake?
My Mam made all the bouquets and button holes and I Do candle Lighting did the ceremony decorations. Estella Collins from Enchanted Delights made our rollercoaster cake.
Are there any other suppliers you’d like to mention?
The band KIF were brilliant and so helpful and friendly and they played on for ages everybody there loved them!
What advice would you give to brides and grooms planning their day?
Do exactly what you want not what you think should be done and don’t stress; the day will come and go and it’s better to go with the flow you’ll enjoy it so much more.
